The Cruise With Confidence policy allows passengers on Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea to cancel up to 48 hours before sailing. “Our previous policy imposed earlier deadlines for guests to cancel their cruises and this added unnecessary stress,” said Richard Fain, the company’s chairman and CEO. “It’s a challenge for medical experts, much less for a family preparing for a vacation, to predict a month or more in advance where there might be areas of concern related to the coronavirus.
“When things are changing as quickly as they have recently, it’s good to know you have an opportunity to do a rain check,” Fain said. “We believe that putting more control in the hands of guests will help them make informed decisions about whether to keep their existing vacation plans or switch to a more convenient time or itinerary.”
Fain said that in addition to easing the concerns of booked guests, the policy would also give consumers more confidence when making new reservations, knowing they can change their plans later without penalty.
