Royal Caribbean Group Extends ‘cruise With Confidence’ Policy Through April 2022

The Confidence Cruise is valid for guests booked on or before January 31, 2021 for voyages departing through April 2022. This basically covers all Royal Caribbean flights currently bookable.

This includes refundable or non-refundable cruise tickets. For joining the Cruise with Confidence program, you can use both booking types without penalty or change fees.

When you choose a future cruise credit offered by Cruise with Confidence, all rate codes apply without restriction. The exception is if you prefer to use the Best Price Guarantee lift and shift programs, which have restrictions on net fares, casino fares, travel agent friends and family rates, reduced travel agent rates and free cabs.

As COVID-19 adds uncertainty to travel plans around the world, Royal Caribbean Group announced it is giving guests more control over their vacation decisions by allowing guests to cancel cruises as early as two days before departure.

The Cruise With Confidence policy allows passengers on Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea to cancel up to 48 hours before sailing. Guests will receive a full credit toward their fare that can be used on selected future trips in 2020 or 2021. The rules apply to both new and existing cruise bookings.

“Our previous policy imposed earlier deadlines for guests to cancel their cruises and this added unnecessary stress,” said Richard Fain, the company’s chairman and CEO. “It’s a challenge for medical experts, much less for a family preparing for a vacation, to predict a month or more in advance where there might be areas of concern related to the coronavirus.

“When things are changing as quickly as they have recently, it’s good to know you have an opportunity to do a rain check,” Fain said. “We believe that putting more control in the hands of guests will help them make informed decisions about whether to keep their existing vacation plans or switch to a more convenient time or itinerary.”

Fain said that in addition to easing the concerns of booked guests, the policy would also give consumers more confidence when making new reservations, knowing they can change their plans later without penalty.

The policy applies to all cruises with a departure date on or before July 31, 2020, and is offered by the company’s global brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea. For peace of mind, you can cancel up to 15 days before your vacation and still receive a full credit on a future cruise. You must use this future cruise credit within one year from the date of issue until December 2022.

For all cruises up to October 31, 2021, you can also cancel up to 2 months prior to departure and receive a full refund under the line’s temporarily revised cancellation policy.

Like Royal Caribbean, you are responsible for the difference if the cruise ticket price of a new booking exceeds the FCC value. Alternatively, if the new cruise ticket price is lower than the FCC value, a new FCC will be issued for the remaining balance.

Summer 2022 Season Campaign Cruise With Confidence

Carnival Cruise Line is the only major brand that does not have an official Cruise With Confidence policy. However, Carnival Cruise Line is now offering guests the option to cancel cruises through July 31 without penalty. Specifically, the brand is offering guests the option to maintain an existing reservation with a $100 onboard credit bonus. Or they can cancel before March 31 for a full refund.

If guests choose to keep their existing reservation, they must make the final payments by the due date. If the cruise is ultimately canceled, you can choose either a full refund or 100% FCC with OBC ($300 for cruises of 5 days or less, or $600 for cruises over 6 days). Guests must apply this FCC for bookings made by September 30, 2021, for bookings beginning in April 2023.

In line with sister brand Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises Cruise With Confidence policies apply to all vacations booked through May 31, 2021. If you book within this period, you have up to 48 hours before departure to cancel and receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit that can be used on any sailing until September 30, 2022. If you cancel during any penalty phase, you will receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) of the full cruise ticket amount .

For cancellations made outside the penalty period, you will receive a refund to the original payment method. If you have a non-refundable deposit booking, the full deposit will be refunded in FCC form.

Caribbean Princess Sail Route Includes Belize

Princess Cruises flexible cancellation policy is Book with confidence. With this policy, you can cancel up to 30 days before departure and receive cancellation fees back as future cruise credit for all bookings made through April 30, 2021. This applies to all trips departing until October 31, 2021. this FCC on all voyages undertaken and departed by December 31, 2022.

This Book with Confidence policy only applies to cruises within the last payment window. Standard rules apply outside the final payment.

In addition, Princess Cruises has moved its final payment to 60 days prior to departure for voyages departing through June 30, 2021.

Holland America Line’s Confident Booking Guarantee applies to cruises booked by March 31, 2021 and departing through October 31, 2021. With this policy, you can cancel for any reason up to 30 days prior to departure and automatically receive a future cruise credit.
