Have you flown recently but noticed that your miles have not been posted to your account? You may have forgotten to include the bulk powder code in your reservation.

Delta Skymiles Program: Everything You Need To Know

Fortunately, most airlines allow you to count flights toward your mileage account after you’ve flown them. However, some airlines give you less time to do this than others. Among them: Delta Air Lines.

Unlike some competitors, who often give you up to 12 months, Delta only gives you nine months to claim miles. So if you’ve taken any flights in the past few months, now is a good time to go back through your tickets and make sure everything is accounted for properly.

Today we’re going to take a step-by-step look at how you can claim credit for missing Delta SkyMiles. Additionally, we will review the rules for claiming credits in the business Delta SkyBonus program.

You can claim missing Delta SkyMiles up to nine months from your flight date. This is a little less generous than airlines like American Airlines and United, as they usually give you up to 12 months. On the flip side, you get the same nine months off even if you weren’t enrolled in the SkyMiles program at the time of the flight. you are not, who is better than other competitors.

Delta says to wait at least seven days after departure before claiming lost miles. Normally, if you include a SkyMiles code on your reservation, most Delta flights post to your account within 24 hours of travel, while partner flights can take up to seven days.

Delta makes it easy to request mileage credits for past flights using an online form. All you need is your SkyMiles account number, ticket number and departure information.

To access the form, log into your Delta SkyMiles account, go to your profile, click “My SkyMiles” and click “Apply for Mileage Credit.”

You can find your ticket number from the flight on your receipt or boarding pass. If you can’t find it, contact Delta through this page to request it. You’ll need to provide more details about your flight, but the problem is worth it, so you’ll have what you need to claim mileage credit.

The process of claiming miles for partners is similar to claiming them for Delta flights. Follow all the steps discussed above to get to the “Request Mileage Credit” page. Then, fill out the form at the bottom of the page. For some non-flying activities, such as Airbnb stays, you may need to provide a receipt or other documentation for verification.

If your business qualifies for an account, you can double dip on any Delta flight by crediting them to SkyMiles and SkyBonus. To qualify for the SkyBonus program, your business must purchase at least $5,000 in tickets each year and have at least five unique employee travelers.

Once you become a SkyBonus member, you can apply for a refund on a ticket already flown by “Add Ticket” in your SkyBonus account. Delta will process the tickets and they will appear on your statement within six to eight weeks after travel.

Delta is a bit more generous with SkyBonus than SkyMiles in terms of credit. Instead of a nine-month window, Delta allows you to claim SkyBonus credits up to a full 12 months back for completed flights. However, it does not allow any carry-on charges for flights purchased or flown by your business prior to booking. So if you qualify for SkyBonus, make sure you do it before booking your next Delta trip.

There are many ways to earn Delta miles other than flying. For example, if you have an American Express Membership Rewards card, such as the Platinum Card® from American Express, you can transfer points to Delta. These process the transfer immediately.

It’s easy to claim lost Delta miles retroactively for flights and other qualifying activities. Plus, you can still claim money even if you’re enrolled in the SkyMiles program after your flight. However, Delta doesn’t give you as much time to claim miles as other airlines, so you want to claim the missing money as soon as possible.

Using SkyMiles for great value has gotten stronger and stronger over the years, thanks to the unpredictable and ever-changing award value. At the beginning of this year, it looks like SkyMiles has dived into new territory. But these flash sales are different.

Delta periodically lowers prices on flights within the United States, to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. Sometimes these ads are advertised; sometimes they are confidential – but we get them anyway and send them to our Thrifty Traveler Premium members. After disappearing at the beginning of this year, these beautiful sales have recently returned.

Besides discounting and eliminating other sweet spots, these Delta SkyMiles flash sales are the best way to use your SkyMiles. Which flight plan will take you to New Zealand for less than 40,000 miles round trip? Or fly out to Hawaii for 13,000 SkyMiles or less? Or fly down to Cancún (CUN) and back for just 9,000 SkyMiles total?

But what is happening here? How do these SkyMiles flash sales work? What is Delta up to? How do you find them?

Top bloggers and so-called “experts” have trashed Delta for years because of its high award prices, sky-high rates to fly business class, and uncertainty. And while this is unfortunate, these amazing deals are the upside.

Years ago, Delta did away with the award chart — a cheat sheet used by many airlines that dictates how many miles you need to fly from Point A to Point B. These days, prices change based on demand, time of year, cost of money, and other factors. This means the number of SkyMiles you need to book a flight can vary greatly.

And while this comes with a big downside (non-rated fares that can make day-to-day transfers, and often 250,000 SkyMiles or more to fly business class) there is a big upside for travelers. Delta is now unincorporated.

The Complete Guide To Earning Delta Skymiles

This gives Delta the freedom to reduce the number of awards at will. Call them SkyMiles flash sales or SkyMiles deals – call them whatever you want. They can be amazing. Sometimes it’s an easy way to save a few SkyMiles on your trip. Sometimes, you’ll save 50% of your miles or more, making it easily the cheapest way to travel with miles. Like SkyMiles themselves, the deals vary greatly.

If you’re flexible, want to go wherever you can for a good price, these deals can’t be beat. It is not clear when Delta will reduce the number of awards on flights to the Caribbean islands. Or the resort towns of Mexico. Or great places all over Europe and beyond. American has flirted with sales like these through “special web” fares, just like United does. But no other airline comes close to Delta.

Delta sometimes posts these publicly on its ongoing SkyMiles Deals page which is tailored to specific departure cities. Also, the airline sometimes sends emails with deals, too. But we get the best, ad-free ads and send them to our Thrifty Traveler Premium subscribers immediately.

At the beginning of this year, we were worried. A steady stream of Delta SkyMiles flash sales like 32,000 SkyMiles to Europe has disappeared. Dealing once or twice a year to book Delta One business class to Europe or Asia at a reasonable price is gone.

But recently, things are looking up for travelers with some SkyMiles and flexibility on sale. In fact, we’ve seen some of the best SkyMiles deals in the past few weeks.

After going more than six months without a valid sale, all of these Delta SkyMiles flash sales have gone up in the past few weeks… to run through March 2024! In almost every case, these cheap rates are gone within a few days, so most of the sales are no longer available.
