International Journal Of Computer Aided Engineering And Technology Impact Factor – Melanoma is considered one of the most malignant, metastatic and dangerous forms of skin cancer that can cause death. The curability and survival of this type of skin cancer directly depends on the diagnosis and removal of melanoma in the early stages. The accuracy of the clinical diagnosis of melanoma with the naked eye is only about 60%, depending only on the knowledge and experience that each doctor has acquired. The need for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) has increased to be used as a non-invasive auxiliary tool for physicians as a second opinion to increase the accuracy of detection as well as to provide information on basic optical characteristics for their identification. The ultimate goal of this research is to design an automated, low-cost computerized system for the diagnosis of melanoma skin cancer in order to increase the flexibility and availability of the system. Also, explore the extent to which melanoma diagnosis can be influenced by using clinical photographic images instead of dermoscopic images, given that both apply to the same automated diagnosis system. Texture features are extracted from 140 pigmented skin lesions (PSL) based on gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), effective features are selected by ranking Fisher scores and then classified using artificial neural network (ANN), the whole system is processed through interactive graphical user interface (GUI) to achieve simplicity. The results revealed a high performance of the proposed CAD system for differentiating melanoma from melanocytic skin tumors using texture analysis when applied to clinical photographic images with a prediction accuracy of 100% for the training phase and 91% for the testing phase. Also, the results showed that the use of this type of images provides a high predictive accuracy for the diagnosis of melanoma relevant to dermoscopic images, considering that photographic clinical images are obtained using a cheaper consumer that show a certain degree of accuracy towards the edges of our field of view.

With the number of mobile-only devices now nearly equaling the population of the Earth, embedded systems have truly become ubiquitous. These trends, however, have also made the task of managing their energy consumption extremely challenging. In recent years, several techniques have been proposed to solve this problem. In this paper, we consider the energy consumption management techniques of embedded systems. We discuss the need for energy management and classify the techniques on several important parameters to highlight their similarities and differences. This work aims to help researchers and application developers gain insight into the operation of energy management techniques and design even more efficient high-performance embedded systems of tomorrow. read more read less

The linear quadratic controller (LKR) was first developed to obtain the scaling required for designing fuzzy logic controllers. The simulation results confirmed that using the Bees algorithm to optimize the membership functions and scaling the gains of the fuzzy system improved the performance of the controller. read more read less

In this paper, OntoCommerce, an e-commerce system incorporating semantic algorithms for product recommendation, is proposed. The proposed strategy uses an enriched normalized measure of mutual information at a point to calculate semantic similarity. OntoCommerce assimilates ontologies and recommends products based on user queries, recorded user navigation as well as user profile analysis, thus including personalization. To make recommendations more relevant, OntoCommerce uses parametric fuzzification to increase the number of relevant products recommended. OntoCommerce delivers an average accuracy of 88.68% with a low false discovery rate of 0.13, making it a best-in-class semantically driven product recommendation system for online e-commerce. read more read less
